REAL TECHNIQUES BOLD METALS BRUSHES REVIEW

I mean, unicorn brush set made only and especially for unicorns 🦄   right?! The real techniques makeup brushes are the most popular brushes among beauty buffs and just recently I purchased the Bold Metals Collection as I am in desperate need of new makeup brushes. Perfect timing! It has finally landed here in Australia. You can purchase them online now at Priceline store. While some loved them because of how pretty they looked with the pinks and silver and gold, others felt that they were too expensive which is correct, they are expensive but let me share with you my experiences with these luxe brushes.

There are currently 7 different types of brushes in the Bold Metals Collection in which are divided into 3 categories: SILVER, GOLD & ROSE GOLD.

     1. SILVER
        » 200 Oval Shadow
        » 201 Pointed Crease
        » 202 Angled Liner

     2. GOLD
        » 100 Arched Powder
        » 101 Triangle Foundation

     3. ROSE GOLD
        » 300 Tapered Brush

        » 301 Flat Contour

I didn't open them in their packaging straight away because I admired them for a couple of days inside their plastic boxes. BUT let me tell you something... the packaging is a pain! There are a lot of tape strapped onto the brushes down into more plastic inside the plastic box. But after all the struggle of opening the packaging, you can now admire them up close.

With that aside, let's now talk about the brushed themselves. Just by staring at them, all the brushes are beautifully made especially because of their colour: silver, gold & rose gold - they do look very sophisticated and have that luxe vibe in them. The handle is solid so it makes it easier to apply and have more control over the brush. The bristles of the brush are made from synthetic fibres and they feel really soft.

Starting with the SILVER eye brushes, these are the 200 Oval Shadow, 201 Pointed Crease & 202 Angled Liner.

200 Oval Eye Shadow ($39) » It's perfect for placing a quick sweep of eye shadow over the whole eyelid but I don't think it's a must have, well at least for me because I don't wear eyeshadow everyday and I found that the shape is slightly too big for my eyelids, which others may or may not like but nonetheless it's a good all-over lid eyeshadow brush.

201 Pointed Crease ($39) » As the name suggest, it is designed to place eyeshadow on the crease. It's densely packed which is great for the outer V crease and make it so much easier to smudge or blend the eyeshadow. I helps to create a natural look. If I was to buy one brush from the eye section of the Bold Metals Collection, I’d definitely go for this one.

202 Angled Liner ($39) » This brush can be used for the eyebrows and I think it would come out perfectly. I haven't used it as an eyebrow brush, simple because I used the Benefit Good Proof Brow Pencil in the shade 01 Light. However, I've used this brush as an eyeliner once or twice and I can say that it gives you that "eyeliner on fleek" feel. Because of its small and very fine head, you have more control over the brush and the product itself which gives you hat precise line. I barely used this brush as I use the L'oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim as my eyeliner.

Moving on to the GOLD base brushes...

100 Arched Powder ($65) » I love this brush because it is huge and soooooo soft. The brush itself has a lot to 'give' but has the perfect amount of denseness for applying powder. The process of using this item is different from what I'm used to because what I do is I normally pat the powder over my face, whereas with this, I tend to sweep on the product. I prefer using this after I bake my face, while I prefer to use a beauty blender when applying the powder.

101 Triangle Foundation ($59) » This brush it very different from the brushes that I'm used to because of it's triangular shape, hence the name LOL! Others found the bristles "too scratchy". For me, I kinda like it. The bristles are stiff so the application of the foundation was just gliding. I use the flat end to paint the foundation on to my cheeks, forehead and chin and the tapered end onto my nose and under eye region. As for using the tip of the brush to buff my foundation in, I did find that the brush were not soft but weren't so scratchy so it is just in between. The process of painting the foundation on to my face wasn't streaky. The foundation sat and sunk into my skin like an air-brushed finish.

Last but certainly not the lease, the ROSE GOLD finishing brushes... what I love about these are the touch of pink in the brushes and if you know me, I LOVE me some pink!

300 Tapered Brush ($59) » I love this brush because it looks so perfect, feels perfect and applies perfectly. Exaggerated? Maybe not! It's sooo instagram-worthy!! I add the blush to one side of the brush, then apply it on the cheeks, before blending it out. Instead of blending it out straight way. It is smaller with compact bristle, so it can pick up quite a lot of product so be careful. Not only is it perfect as a blush brush but it’s also perfect for applying your favourite highlighter!

301 Flat Contour ($65) » I also love this brush because it can be used for many things. I've used this brush to buff in my foundation even more, to contour with a contour powder and as blush brush. If you are on a budget, definitely buy this brush because it can help you save heaps and also save time in the morning as you can use one brush for many purposes. Definitely a favourite of mine!

The entire Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection will cost you up to $365 AUD. I know, I know! That is very expensive! But you can pick and choose wha brushes suites your needs best. As for me, if I had to choose my top 3, I would buy the 300 Tapered Brush, 301 Flat Contour & the 201 Pointed Crease OR the 101 Triangle Foundation. You can shop these brushes not at Priceline. It is always sold out but you can purchase them as well online.

Chirstmas is coming up! So you already know what to ask for hehe... Also, this is my first post on my blog and it's my first time to review a product so I hope you guys like it!

Much love! xoxo
